"Checklist"
From the applicant:
- Application form duly completed and signed.
- One color passport-size photograph not more than six months old, in color, white
background, and full front face, with no hat nor scarf, nor sunglasses.
- Passport or travel document valid for the entire period of stay (original and
one photocopy of all the pages).
- Previous passports, if a new passport has been issued within the last 3 years.
- Non-Kenyan/non-Ugandan passport holders must provide proof of residence in
Kenya, the validity of which should extend to at least 30 days beyond the date
of expiry of the visa. (Original and one photocopy).
- Proof of admission to a Learning Institution, authorized in Spain, for full time
studies leading to a degree or certificate.
- Accommodation can be proven through the Au Pair Placement Agreement.
- Public or Private Medical Insurance whose premiums should be partly covered by
the host family.
- Supporting documents accrediting the financial means to cover the living
expenses, during the entire stay as well the cost of returning to your home
country.
- Current Medical Certificate, issued on a date no less than three months before
the placement, stating the general state of health of the said person. The
certificate must also state the following “This medical certificate
guarantees that Mr./Mrs./Ms. XXXX does not suffer from any disease that may
constitute a serious danger to public health as stated in the International
Health Regulations of 2005”. (Original – duly
legalized).
- Duly filled and signed Au Pair Placement Agreement in the terms established in
Articles 6 to 9 and 11 of the Agreement. This Agreement must comprise of the
following points:
- Duration of the Placement Agreement, with a maximum of one year.
- Domestic duties for a period of time that does not exceed 5 hours daily.
- Provision of a minimum of one full day free per week. At least one of
the free days each month must be a Sunday, in order to allow the student
to participate in Religious activities.
- Specification of the home in which the person placed as an Au Pair will
have to share in the Host Family’s life, enjoying at the same time a
certain degree of independence.
- Specification of the home in which the person placed as an Au Pair will

- Circumstances which allow the Placement Agreement to be dissolved by
whichever of the parties with a notice of two weeks.
For Studies lasting more than six months:
- Valid Good Conduct Certificate, from the Country of origin or from the Countries
in which the applicant has resided during the previous 5 years; this is
applicable for persons over the age of 18 yrs. (original - duly
legalized).
Please Note:
- All the documents should be presented in original, plus one photocopy, in
English, or with a legalized Spanish translation.
- An interview at the Embassy may be required.
- The Consular Section reserves the right to request any complementary
documentation it considers necessary.
Important Notice:
The mere submission of the listed documents does not guarantee the issuance
of a visa. Individual assessments are made in every case.
Within one month of arrival in Spain, the Student should apply for a Student Card
from the relevant Spanish Authorities.
Note: We regret we cannot accept photographs that do not meet these requirements
Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used
previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:
- Two recent colour passports, size of photographs(45mm x 35mm) full face and taken against a white background so
that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
- It must be clear and show the face focused.
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
- Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such
items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
- Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.
